Accounts Receivable & Collections

Part of the worlds-biggest-software-project initiative.

An open-source, AI-native accounts receivable platform that brings predictive collections, intelligent cash application, and adaptive dunning to the mid-market.

Accounts Receivable & Collections automates invoicing, dunning, cash application, and aging analytics for finance teams. It targets the $10M–$100M revenue companies that have outgrown ERPNext and Odoo's basic AR modules but cannot justify the $5,000+/month price point of Versapay, HighRadius, or Billtrust. The goal is a self-hostable invoice-to-cash platform with an inspectable AI layer.

Why Accounts Receivable & Collections?

  • The AR automation market is dominated by closed, enterprise-priced incumbents: HighRadius is enterprise-only with 6–18 month implementations, Versapay starts at $5,000/month, and Tesorio runs $15,000–$24,000/year — all cost-prohibitive below $100M revenue.
  • Open-source alternatives are AI-blind: ERPNext (GPL-3.0) and Odoo Community offer template-driven dunning on fixed schedules, manual cash application, no predictive payment scoring, and no buyer payment portal.
  • Predictive scoring, agentic remittance extraction, and adaptive dunning are locked behind proprietary trade-secret models — there is no GPL/MIT-licensed project providing these capabilities today.
  • Commercial predictive AR models are black boxes; an open platform with inspectable scoring addresses audit and compliance concerns that closed systems cannot.
  • EU PEPPOL e-invoicing mandates are forcing companies into expensive commercial tools because no open-source AR product natively supports the standard.

Key Features

Invoicing & Delivery

  • Electronic invoice generation with multi-channel delivery (email, PDF, EDI, customer portal)
  • Customer payment portal with invoice search, payment submission, and dispute flagging
  • Multi-currency AR with exchange rate management
  • PEPPOL / UBL e-invoicing for EU mandate compliance

Collections & Dunning

  • Automated dunning on configurable schedules with escalation paths
  • Dynamic dunning personalisation: AI-selected channel, tone, timing, and settlement offer per customer
  • Risk-stratified collections worklist with recommended next action per account
  • Predictive payment scoring: ML probability of on-time payment assigned at invoice creation

Cash Application & Reconciliation

  • Automated matching of bank-deposited payments to open invoices by amount and reference
  • AI cash application: remittance extraction from email attachments and PDF targeting 85%+ auto-match
  • Exception management queue for AI-flagged mismatches
  • Bank connectivity via standard remittance feeds

Credit & Risk

  • Customer credit limit management with order hold triggers
  • Optional integration with external credit bureaus (Dun & Bradstreet, Experian B2B) for new customer onboarding
  • Continuous credit risk monitoring with limit recommendations

Analytics & Forecasting

  • AR aging report with customer- and invoice-level drill-down
  • Cash flow forecasting from AR pipeline with daily and weekly horizons
  • DSO trend tracking and dunning effectiveness reporting
  • Dispute pattern analysis to surface upstream order or pricing issues

AI-Native Advantage

The platform layers AI on top of standard AR workflows rather than bolting it on. Predictive payment scoring runs at invoice creation so teams can act before the due date instead of reacting after it. LLM-driven remittance extraction targets the 90%+ auto-match rate that today is locked behind HighRadius pricing. Dunning content is generated per customer rather than chosen from fixed templates, and dispute descriptions are auto-classified by root cause to feed operational intelligence back upstream.

Tech Stack & Deployment

Designed for self-hosted deployment with a pluggable AI layer (LLM-based dunning, ML payment scoring, AI cash application) so operators can run local models or call hosted APIs. Connectors target the ERPs the mid-market actually uses: ERPNext, NetSuite, and QuickBooks, with bank feed support for standard remittance formats. PEPPOL / UBL is a first-class output channel for EU compliance, and a REST API exposes invoices, payments, and reports.

Market Context

The global AR automation market is $3.79B in 2026, growing at 11.6% CAGR to $6.57B by 2031 (The Business Research Company), with North America representing roughly 33% of the total (Coherent Market Insights). Vendor benchmarks claim AI-driven AR can reduce DSO by 20–40% and cut collection costs by up to 50%. Primary buyers are AR/credit managers and CFOs at mid-market companies, plus shared services leaders at enterprises and revenue operations teams at SaaS firms.
