Marina & Boat Storage Management
Part of the worlds-biggest-software-project initiative.
An AI-native, open-source platform for managing slip rentals, boat maintenance, fuel, and guest dockage across marinas and boat storage facilities.
Marina & Boat Storage Management is a candidate platform for marina operators, boatyards, and yacht clubs that need to coordinate slip and dry-stack inventory, transient and seasonal contracts, fuel sales, and service operations in a single system. It targets the long tail of municipally-run, club-owned, and small private marinas that have historically resisted software investment but face mounting competitive and regulatory pressure.
Why Marina & Boat Storage Management?
- Existing platforms (Storable Marine, DockMaster, MarinaOffice, Dockwa, Harbour Assist) are uniformly proprietary subscription SaaS — no open-source alternative exists in this category.
- Marinas relying on manual systems miss roughly 34% of enquiries during peak season, translating directly to empty slips and lost fuel revenue.
- Incumbents are largely reactive: predictive maintenance, fuel demand forecasting, and environmental compliance automation are missing across the analysed solutions.
- Dynamic transient pricing and yield management are confined to a couple of vendors (Dockwa, Storable), leaving most operators without revenue tools that hotels have had for decades.
- New regulatory and infrastructure demands — ABYC E-13 lithium battery handling (2025), EPA Clean Marina, ABYC-USCG joint certification — are not addressed by current platforms.

AI-Native Advantage
AI is applied where incumbents remain manual or rule-based: dynamic transient slip pricing that adapts to demand, seasonality, local events, and competitor availability; predictive boat maintenance using engine hours, service history, and OEM schedules; fuel demand forecasting with anomaly detection for leaks or theft in dispensing data; and personalised guest experience automation (arrival briefings, weather alerts, post-visit surveys) calibrated to vessel type and stay duration. Environmental compliance reporting against EPA Clean Marina requirements is generated automatically from operational logs.
Tech Stack & Deployment
The platform is intended as a cloud-native, multi-tenant system with a mobile-first technician experience including offline-capable field workflows. Integration surfaces include fuel dispenser hardware, utility metering equipment, payment processors, and accounting systems such as QuickBooks. Operations are shaped by ABYC standards (E-11, E-13, H-24), USCG recreational boating regulations, NMMA certification, and the EPA Clean Marina programme; vessel and waterways data flows are designed with state harbour-master and environmental-agency requirements in mind.
Market Context
Marina management software is a niche but growing segment driven by rising recreational boating participation, ageing marina infrastructure, and the complexity of multiple revenue streams (wet slips, dry stack, fuel, guest dockage, service, retail). All identified incumbents are subscription SaaS, with Dockwa adding commission-based marketplace revenue and reporting an average 20% NOI uplift for adopters. Primary buyers are marina operators, boatyards, yacht and marina clubs, and municipal harbour authorities — many of which still run manual or legacy desktop systems.
