Social Media Management

Part of the worlds-biggest-software-project initiative.

An AI-native, open-source social media management platform for scheduling, analytics, sentiment tracking, and content generation across every major and emerging network.

Social Media Management unifies post scheduling, unified inbox, analytics, and AI content workflows in a single self-hostable platform. It is built for social media managers, agencies, brand and community managers who need enterprise-grade capabilities without per-seat enterprise pricing or proprietary data lock-in.

Why Social Media Management?

  • Enterprise tools like Sprout Social ($249–$499/mo per seat) and Hootsuite ($99–$249+/mo) price small teams and agencies out of advanced sentiment analysis and listening features.
  • Buffer and Later are affordable but ship limited social listening, weak analytics, and no multi-channel attribution.
  • Existing AI features across incumbents are confined to caption generation; none infer a full content strategy from brand voice, past performance, and competitor benchmarks.
  • Open-source alternatives (Postiz, Mixpost, Socioboard) lack sentiment analysis, deep listening, and cross-platform attribution.
  • Platform API instability — particularly X (tier pricing $100–$5,000/mo) and TikTok — creates maintenance burden that an AI-native abstraction layer can mitigate through graceful degradation.

Key Features

Publishing & Scheduling

  • Post scheduling and publishing to Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and emerging networks (Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads, Discord)
  • Visual content calendar with drag-and-drop scheduling and previews
  • Platform-specific optimisations (character count, aspect ratio, hashtag suggestions)
  • A/B testing for post copy and publish time
  • Content approval workflows with role-based permissions (Editor, Viewer, Approver)

Engagement & Listening

  • Unified inbox for comments and direct messages across channels
  • Sentiment analysis for engagement messages with multilingual support
  • Social listening for brand mentions and competitor tracking
  • Automated message routing by sentiment to senior team members
  • Competitor sentiment benchmarking and brand health trends

AI Content & Strategy

  • AI content generation for ideation, copy rewriting, and tone adjustment
  • Built-in Canva-like design tools for graphics and video
  • Agentic content workflows via Claude, ChatGPT, or custom models
  • Content performance prediction before publishing
  • Real-time trend alerts based on competitor moves and audience behaviour

Analytics & Attribution

  • Per-channel and per-post analytics from official platform APIs
  • Basic metrics: impressions, engagement, reach, follower growth
  • Cross-platform performance attribution from post to website visit or sale
  • Multi-touch attribution modelling
  • Scheduled team reports with CSV and PDF export

Collaboration & Integrations

  • Team collaboration with role-based permissions and unlimited seats
  • OAuth integration with all major social platforms
  • Public REST API and CLI for programmatic scheduling
  • n8n and Make.com support for no-code workflow automation
  • MCP server integration for AI-assisted scheduling

AI-Native Advantage

Unlike incumbents that bolt AI onto caption generation, this project treats AI as the orchestration layer. It infers content strategy from brand voice, historical performance, and competitor benchmarks; democratises sentiment analysis currently locked behind $500+/mo enterprise tiers; and provides an abstraction layer that gracefully degrades when volatile platform APIs (X, TikTok) break. Cross-platform attribution — correlating posts with downstream revenue — is delivered as a first-class AI capability rather than an enterprise upsell.

Tech Stack & Deployment

The project targets both self-hosted and managed cloud deployment, following the Apache 2.0 model proven by Postiz. Integrations rely on OAuth 2.0 across Meta Graph API, X API v2, LinkedIn Marketing API, and TikTok Content Posting API, with native support for ActivityPub-based decentralised networks (Mastodon, Threads federation). An API-first design exposes REST endpoints, a CLI, and an MCP server for AI-assisted workflows alongside n8n and Make.com automation.

Market Context

The global social media management market was estimated at $23.4 billion in 2024, forecast to exceed $90 billion by 2032 (CAGR ~18%). Incumbent pricing splits into freemium (Buffer free tier, Postiz self-hosted), SMB SaaS at $6–$199/mo, and enterprise at $249–$1,000+/mo per seat, with social listening priced separately at $500–$2,000+/mo. Primary buyers are social media managers, digital marketing agencies, brand and community managers, and CMOs at e-commerce and consumer brands.
