Wealth Management Platform

Part of the worlds-biggest-software-project initiative.

An open, AI-native wealth management platform that unifies client portal, financial planning, portfolio reporting, and CRM for advisors and the firms they serve.

This project is a candidate for an open-source wealth management platform combining portfolio accounting, rebalancing, financial planning, client engagement, and compliance into a single system. It targets Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs), enterprise wealth management firms, family offices, and broker-dealers seeking an alternative to fragmented, expensive proprietary suites.

Why Wealth Management Platform?

  • Incumbent suites are expensive and siloed. Enterprise platforms such as Salesforce Financial Services Cloud and SS&C run seven-figure annual contracts, while purpose-built tools like Advyzon, Orion, and Envestnet charge AUM-based fees or $50–$200 per advisor per month.
  • All-in-one is rare in practice. Most leading tools cover only part of the stack: Practifi and Wealthbox lead in CRM but lack portfolio depth; RightCapital is strong in planning but is not a full platform; CircleBlack relies on partner ecosystems for deep features.
  • Compliance burden is rising. MiFID II, SEC Reg BI, GIPS, and the EU DORA regulation (effective 2025) are diverting R&D budgets at incumbents toward vendor risk management, compressing feature investment.
  • Underserved gaps remain. Automated Reg BI / MiFID II suitability documentation, real-time multi-account tax optimisation, predictive churn modelling, natural-language client portals, and cross-border wealth management are all weakly served by today's platforms.
  • Cloud and digital adoption is accelerating. Around 59% of firms are deploying cloud platforms, and 64% have adopted digital advisory tools, opening room for an open, modern, AI-native alternative.

AI-Native Advantage

AI capabilities target the parts of the workflow incumbents handle poorly. LLMs can generate personalised financial plans from questionnaire data, simulate retirement scenarios, and flag suitability concerns relative to Reg BI or MiFID II. ML-based rebalancing engines can simultaneously minimise tax drag, hold target allocations, and respect ESG exclusions across thousands of accounts. Engagement-scoring models can analyse portal logins, document views, and life events to predict client dissatisfaction before churn occurs. Generative AI can draft GIPS-compliant performance commentaries and regulatory disclosures, while a conversational client portal lets clients ask portfolio questions and run "what-if" analyses in plain language.

Tech Stack & Deployment

The platform is intended for cloud deployment, in line with the fastest-growing segment of the market, with REST APIs as the primary integration layer for custodians and third-party tools. The design aligns with established standards including MiFID II, SEC Reg BI, GIPS, FIX Protocol for trade communication, XBRL / FINRA reporting, and DORA operational resilience requirements, plus GDPR and CCPA for client data privacy.

Market Context

The wealth management platform market reached approximately $7.88 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach $11.82 billion by 2031 at an 11.63% CAGR (Mordor Intelligence; MarketsandMarkets), with broader category estimates near $9.6 billion (Globe Newswire, 2026). Incumbent pricing ranges from ~$45/user/month (Wealthbox) through AUM-based fees of 2–5 basis points for larger books, up to seven-figure enterprise contracts for Salesforce FSC and SS&C. Primary buyers are RIAs seeking all-in-one practice management, enterprise wealth firms replacing legacy systems, family offices needing consolidated reporting, and broker-dealers upgrading advisor productivity tooling.
